Our beautiful and unique guest house has a serene feels to it. On a two acre art studios compound it has 1 bed/1 bath. Sleeps 4 comfortably. Centrally located near downtown,UT, ACL, SXSW, F1, airport. Enjoy Austin, art, and sculptures. Relax here, a perfect place to stay for fun or work.
The Space:
About ten years ago, we found this building on HWY 71. It was used as a church annex school building for small children. We fell in love with its long and narrow proportion, had it moved to current location to renovate.
The interior is 1000 sq/ft, covered deck 1000 sq/ft, one big room, one bedroom, full kitchen, and a nice stone tiled bathroom. With our Rubicon sleeper sofa, it sleeps 4 guests comfortably. Curtains provided for semi privacy when sleeper sofa is being used.
Situated in a two acre art studios/residence compound, the building is surrounded by tress, wild chickens, and sculptures. We hope for guests to enjoy our tranquil, comfortable and artistic place in east Austin.
Guest Access:
Our guest house is a separate building so guests will have exclusive and full access to the interior and deck. Our studio tour maybe possible upon request.
Interaction with Guests:
We work and live on the premise so most likely one of us will be somewhere in our compound most of the time.
The Neighborhood:
We've lived here for 30 years and we love this land in east Austin. There are three urban farms, numerous art studios within walking/biking distance and we're near downtown, U.T Zilker Park, Barton Springs, Town Lake, F1, ACL, SXSW venues, lots restaurants, hike and bike trail, freeways and airport. In a quite neighborhood, this place is ideal for weekend visit to Austin or longer stay to work.
Getting around:
Capitol Metro bus stops at the end of the block. Pay-as-you-use electric cars and bicycles are available throughout the city. Guests park on the street but in some instances a drive-in access is available. Guests can get to the house by airport transport bus, Capitol Metro bus, a short ride on taxi . We can pick up guests if we're available.
Other Things to Note:
We have one queen bed (natural latex mattress), one queen sleeper sofa (green-foam mattress), 2 twin air-mattress; sleeps 4. Beside the sleeper, there is another comfortable sofa and a love seat. Some areas can be curtained to created semi private space for sleeping, working, etc. We use natural cleaning products. Whenever possible, we air and dry pillows and linens in the sun light .
