Full Description:

With 5800 sq/ft of interior space and 2000+ sq/ft of wraparound deck, the EVL Skis Chalet is one of the most spacious vacation homes in the area. Spread across three floors, the interior is laid out to provide several areas for guests to congregate, while allowing even the largest group to spread out and pursue separate activities in different areas of the house.

The centerpiece of the Chalet is the main floor Great Room, with its towering stone fireplace, wall of windows, one-of-a-kind furnishings, and the magnificent antler chandelier built by a local artist. Guests can spread out to lounge in front of a roaring fire on the down-filled leather couch, burrow into the custom-made, rotating chaise, or relax into the leather upholstery of the Stickley Morris chairs near the wet bar and geranium-red game table. The antique shirt cabinet below the 65 in. Samsung smart tv contains a large selection of board and card games. In-floor, radiant heat and plush, oriental rugs keep the slate and Brazilian Cherry hardwood floors of the large space feeling cozy in the coldest weather.

The custom, gourmet kitchen, with its 6-burner + French top range, double ovens, and two warming drawers, is equipped to feed a crowd. The kitchen comes with basic condiments, including spices, dinnerware, glassware, flatware, utensils, pots and pans, small appliances, including a Vitamix blender, and a wide variety of baking and serving dishes. In addition to a drip coffeemaker, the kitchen has a Keurig with coffee, cider, chai latte, and hot chocolate pods. A custom-built butler's pantry contains a second full-size refrigerator/freezer and many cabinets and drawers with additional serving pieces and barware. The kitchen dining table seats 12, with an additional 8 seats available at the nearby great room game/dining table (an additional leaf is available, on request). A full bath (bathroom 4) with a shower is at the end of the hall, behind the kitchen.

In a separate wing of the main floor, with a private deck entrance on the back of the house, the spacious Master Suite has a King-size bed, 55 in. smart TV, and custom built-in cabinetry. The decadent, oversized bathroom (bathroom 1) is large enough to set up a portable massage table and has a private toilet, double sinks, a steam shower, a separate soaking tub, large mirrors, and a built-in vanity. The spacious bathroom and attached dressing room make this the perfect space for a bridal party to get ready on the big day!

5 bedrooms and 2 full baths are located on the third floor:

Just off the balcony that overlooks the Great Room, the Bird Room and the Elk Bunk Room share a short hallway with bathroom 2, which has a walk-in shower with a built-in seat, instead of a bathtub.

The Bird Room has a Queen-size, four-poster bed, placed against a mural of impressionistic birch trees. Bird-themed art and details in the room include original watercolor bird paintings by the amazing local artist, Barbara Fox, metal wall art, and hardware on the painted vintage nightstands and lingerie chest. Colorful rugs cushion the hardwood floors. This room has radiant baseboard heat and an oversized window overlooking the hillside behind the house.

The Elk Bunk Room perches at the highest point overlooking the front of the house and has two Twin-over-Full bunkbeds. The name of the room comes from the mural on one wall of two giant Elks and the room has a simple, rustic feel, with a hand-made, antique cherry dresser, colorful rugs, and whimsical clip-on lights with antlers. This bedroom has radiant baseboard heat and a valley view. The upper bunks are rated up to 350 lbs.

The Silver Room, the Mountains Bunk Room, and the Balcony Room are located on the balcony overlooking the kitchen and share bathroom 3, which has a traditional combo bathtub/shower.

The Silver Room has a Queen-size bed and is decorated in soothing, neutral tones and original landscape paintings touched with silver leaf. A mirror with an ornate mosaic frame hangs over a vintage dresser, mercury glass lamps atop marble-topped antique nightstands frame the bed. Cotton rugs, in shades of blue, cushion the floor on each side of the bed. This room has radiant baseboard heat and a view into evergreens.

The Mountains Bunk Room has a mural of abstract mountains in blues and greens, one twin-over-Twin bunkbed and one Twin-over-Full, and shares many design features with the Elk Bunk Room, including the clip-on lights with antlers and a matching hand-made, vintage cherry dresser. This room has radiant baseboard heat, colorful cotton rugs, and an evergreen view. The upper bunks are rated up to 350 lbs.

The bottom floor of the EVL Skis Chalet contains a mudroom with space for storing skis and snowboards, a well-equipped home gym, a large laundry room, a full bath (bathroom 5) with a shower, and the Game Room.

The Game Room has a pool table, a wet bar with a mini-fridge, and a comfy seating area with a woodburning fireplace and home theater system. The two futon sofas convert into Full-size beds with new memory foam mattresses. This area of the house has a retro feel, with painted vintage furniture and original movie posters from the 1950's, funky lamps made from industrial wrenches, framed images of original patent drawings for ski and snowboard equipment. Modern convenience is provided by the home theater projector system, with 110" screen, premium surround sound, a Roku Ultra streaming player, and an HDMI port for guests to attach their own gaming systems or other devices.

The great outdoors - safety rules at the bottom!

Guests are allowed to wander the 20 acres of private property surrounding the house, including the apple orchard, pond area, and creek. The lack of city light pollution makes the shores of the pond an excellent place to stargaze. Numerous fireflies light up the night for much of the summer, peaking in mid-July.

Wildlife is abundant. Guests will likely see deer, rabbits, woodchucks, chipmunks, with leopard frogs, bull frogs, and salamanders in the pond. Rarer sightings include turkeys, bald eagles, pheasants, minks, foxes, great blue herons, various ducks, and nocturnal creatures such as flying squirrels and owls,

WATER SAFETY RULES:
The house sits next to a pond that is quite deep and full of interesting wildlife. Another pond, the creek, and various seeps are also nearby.

1) There is no fence to keep children (and other non-swimmers) out of bodies of water on the property. Minors must be supervised by an adult when outside.

2) ICE WARNING: The surfaces of ponds freeze during the winter. It is NEVER safe to walk or skate on the ice, no matter how thick or sturdy the ice appears to be. Do not venture onto frozen ponds or creeks, even to save someone else.

NOTE ON PRIVACY:
The EVL Skis Chalet shares a driveway with the EVL Skis Workshop barn. The owners may be present at the Workshop at any time. Guests are only allowed at the Workshop by prior arrangement. Every effort is made to preserve the privacy of guests using the Chalet, which cannot be seen from the Workshop.

With guests in residence, the owners will only approach the Chalet when the driveway needs to be cleared of snow. This will typically occur early in the morning after a significant snowfall and the owners apologize for any disturbance this causes. Unfortunately, the slope of the driveway makes it necessary to store the snowblower in the garage up at the house, which is opened and closed with a remote. If, unusually, the owners need to access the garage through the mudroom of the Chalet, an attempt will be made to contact you first.

WINTER PARKING:
During the winter, guests may not park directly in front of the garage door at the Chalet. Signs will be posted. Space may be cordoned off so the snowblower can access the garage to clear the driveway.

OCCUPANCY AND SALES TAXES:
Vrbo will add 13% to the cost of the booking to cover our 8% sales tax and a 5% occupancy tax we are required to collect from guests.
